History of Amersfoort
The city of Amersfoort derives her name of the river the Eem (before the Amer). At the place where tradespeople crossed the river arose the city we now know as Amersfoort. Nowadays Amersfoort is a city that is very divers and has a lot to offer to its inhabitants and visitors. The city has an authentic old city center with canals, special architecture, a with range of shops and a beautiful natural environment.

When you enter the city you will notice the lively city has a rich history, modern architecture, museums and lots of activities. Amersfoort is the official middle point of the Netherlands. Due to the central location of Amersfoort the city is ideal for your short stay apartment to explore the Netherlands or when you have to travel for work to other cities. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol can be reached within 40 minutes. The city centre of Amsterdam is only 35 minutes by train, Utrecht only 20 minutes and Rotterdam and the Hague 60 minutes.
